IISD & the Sustainable Development Goals

The globally agreed Sustainable Development Goals set an ambitious development agenda up to 2030. Here is how IISD is contributing

Introducing the Sustainable Development Goals

At a United Nations summit in September 2015, countries adopted a new development agenda, of which the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a core part. The SDGs build on and extend the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which expired at the end of 2015. There are 17 SDGs with over 160 accompanying targets that aim to holistically address sustainable development over the 2016–2030 period.
