The International Institute for Sustainable Development and The Earth Institute at Columbia University present an important discussion on climate change in New York, Thursday, October 9, 2008
WINNIPEG, October 1, 2008—Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and Yvo de Boer, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will discuss whether a carbon market or carbon taxes are the best way to cut greenhouse gas emissions—a critical question for governments working to establish a framework to address climate change amid a global financial crisis and market uncertainty.
IISD Climate Change and Energy Director John Drexhage is the moderator of the event, designed to focus attention on a critical core element of the global climate change negotiations, which are scheduled to culminate in a new international agreement in Copenhagen in December 2009.
