Marina Ruete is an international and comparative law advisor who has been working with IISD’s Economic Law and Policy group since 2013. Her work cuts across a number of program areas, including sustainable procurement and infrastructure finance, investment in mining and agriculture. Marina is engaged with legal and policy analysis and capacity-building training, and regularly presents her research and expertise at conferences. She also helps to edit the Spanish edition of the quarterly journal International Treaty News.

Marina previously served as legal fellow for the Inter-American Development Bank Group, as an associate in capital markets and finance departments in a Tier 1 Argentinean law firm and as an adjunct professor of modern contracts law at Universidad de Buenos Aires. 

Marina has worked as a consultant for a wide variety of international institutions on the issues of mining, public procurement and concessions including United Nations Environemnt Programme, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and the Alliance for Responsible Mining.

Marina holds a Master of Law (LL.M) in International and Comparative Law from the National University of Singapore and studied International Relations and Negotiations at Universidad de Barcelona, Universidad de San Andrés and FLACSO.

She is based in Panamá and speaks Spanish, English and French.
