Pamela Chasek

Executive Editor, Earth Negotiations Bulletin

Pam is co-founder and executive editor of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. She balances her work with IISD with her work as a Professor of International Relations at Manhattan College in New York City.  Pam has published numerous articles on developing country capacity building for environmental negotiations, scientific uncertainty in negotiations, professional cultures in negotiations, sustainable development, desertification and the UNCCD, and various environmental treaties and negotiating processes.

Her most recent books are: Global Environmental Politics, 8th edition (Routledge, 2021)  Transforming Multilateral Diplomacy: The Inside Story of the Sustainable Development Goals (Routledge, 2018), and The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations (co-edited with Lynn Wagner; Routledge, 2012). She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Wellington, New Zealand in 2007 and the results of her research have been published by the East-West Center: “Confronting Environmental Treaty Implementation Challenges in the Pacific Islands.” In her spare time, she is an avid wildlife photographer and enjoys hiking and exploring.
